Industrial Action W/B 30 June 2025

Thu 26 Jun 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,

Industrial Action
Despite further negotiations, there has not yet been a resolution to concerns raised around the new school day.  As a result, at present both NASUWT and NEU members are continuing with their industrial action. Next week (w/b 30th June) NEU members are taking industrial action on Tuesday 1st July, Wednesday 2nd July and Thursday 3rd July.

I have received also received notification from both unions of their intention to strike on:
  • Tuesday 8 July
  • Wednesday 9 July
  • Thursday 10 July
  • Monday 14 July
  • Tuesday 15 July
  • Wednesday 16 July
  • Thursday 17 July

I share your frustration and concern about the impact that this is having on students and the staff remaining in school are doing everything possible to minimise the impact of the absence. I also remain hopeful that the situation can be resolved and that the action will be paused so that we can have a more positive end to what has been a successful year for our academy.

Next week we will be open:

Monday 30th June ALL students
Tuesday 1st July Y10 who will be completing mock exams and following their normal timetable and Y7 who will be following their normal timetable and will need their PE kit
Wednesday 2nd July is our Y6 Induction day so we will be inviting Y10 students who are completing exams
Thursday 3rd July Y8 and Y10

If the other strike action goes ahead we will ensure that Y9 are prioritised in our planning in the upcoming weeks.

Other students will access work via Google Classroom following their normal timetable. If their teacher is not a member of a union taking part in industrial action, their lessons will be delivered live by those members of staff online. There are very few teachers in our school who are not in the NASUWT or the NEU however.

Once again I can give you my assurance that I am doing everything I can at a local level to reach an agreement and I remain committed to doing all that I can to minimise the disruption to students’ learning.

Yours faithfully
J Norman
Principal
