Dear Parents/Carers
Outwood Academy Hindley is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all members of our Academy. For this reason, our school is a ‘nut aware’ site.
To ensure the safety of all students, staff, and visitors, we politely ask all parents/carers to be vigilant and check any food or drink that your child brings to school, including packed lunches and snacks. Please do not send your child in with any products that contain peanuts or tree nuts (pistachios, almonds, walnuts, cashews etc).
This approach is in place to protect and safeguard members of our Academy with a severe, life threatening nut allergy, where even a small quantity of nuts can cause a dangerous or fatal reaction. We have a member of our school community who has recently been diagnosed with a severe nut allergy.
Whilst we cannot guarantee that the Academy will be a completely allergen free environment, we aim to reasonably minimise the risk of exposure by promoting awareness and remaining vigilant.
Our catering team will also work with parents and students to identify whether a food product is safe for pupils with allergies to eat.
A copy of the Academy menu can be requested from the Catering Manager, via Mrs G Brown, our Student Information Desk Receptionist.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping to maintain a safe environment for everyone in our Academy.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs J Norman
Principal
