Year 10 Mock Exams

Fri 23 May 2025
Dear Parent/Carer,

As we approach the final half term of the academic year, we are entering a particularly important time for our Year 10 students. The period between Monday, 16th June and Friday, 4th July will be significant, encompassing key examinations, a Geography field trip, and various college sample days.

During the examination period, your child will be assessed across a range of subjects. These assessments are crucial in evaluating their progress and providing valuable feedback as they prepare for their GCSEs. The results will help us identify their strengths and any areas where further support may be needed as they transition into Year 11. A detailed examination timetable will be sent home and made available on the school website shortly.

To support your child in preparing for these important assessments, we have attached a revision list for each subject to this letter. This list outlines the key topics and areas that will be covered in the examinations. We encourage you to review these lists with your child and help them create a structured revision plan.

In addition to these resources, students can utilise their class books, Google Classroom, and other online learning platforms such as Sparx and Educake to support their studies. These platforms offer a wealth of resources, including notes, practice questions, and video tutorials, which can be invaluable for effective revision.

Alongside these important assessments, if your child studies Geography they will complete their required field trip to support the next step in their learning on this course. Further details regarding this trip will be communicated by the Geography department. Additionally, we will be facilitating various Post 16 sample days at local colleges, offering invaluable insights into their post-secondary education options. Information regarding these sample days will be shared separately.

This busy period underscores the need for excellent attendance, a positive behaviour for learning, and a strong focus on moving forward and ensuring being best prepared for Year 11. Consistent attendance ensures your child does not miss crucial learning opportunities or the chance to participate in the field trip and college visits. A positive attitude in lessons and a focused approach to their studies now will lay a strong foundation for the increased demands of their final GCSE year.

Your child will receive their examination results at our 'You Are It' event on Wednesday, 16th July at 5:00pm. We encourage you to make a note of this date.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding any of these events, please do not hesitate to contact your child's form tutor or the relevant subject teacher.

Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs J Wright
Vice Principal - Deep support
