New School Day

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to provide a reminder of the upcoming changes to our daily schedule. At Outwood Academy Hindley, we are committed to providing the highest quality of education. We have recently reviewed our school hours to ensure we are maximising learning time and supporting student wellbeing.

Our new personal development and guidance session replaces form time and is a 30 minute lesson focused on PSHE, Citizenship, Financial and Careers Education as well as Current Affairs.

KS4 students will also receive academic mentoring in Maths and English twice per week to give a further boost in these vital subjects.

The structure below details the new academy day, which will officially come into effect on Monday, 5th January 2026.  All pupils have received a new timetable today, this should be in their planners.

8:15 am | Academy Gates Open (Students may wait in the canteen)
8:30 am | PD&G Registration (Students marked late from 8:30 am)
8:35 am – 9:05 am | PD&G Lesson
9:05 am – 10:05 am | Lesson 1
10:05 am – 11:30 am | Lesson 2 (Includes a 25-minute break)
11:30 am – 12:30 pm | Lesson 3
12:30 pm – 2:00 pm | Lesson 4 (Includes 30 minutes for lunch)
2:00 pm – 3:00 pm | Lesson 5
3:00 pm – 3:40 pm | Enrichment

We understand that changes to timings can impact family routines, and we appreciate your continued support as we implement these improvements for our students.

To ensure students arrive before the 8:30 am registration deadline, please note the following morning bus services:

Please Note: As the formal school day now ends at 3:00 pm, afternoon bus departure times have been adjusted. We strongly recommend parents and students check the Bee Network App for live tracking and updated afternoon timetables.
